this week, we chat with carl medearis, an expert in arab-american and muslim-christian relations and the author of several books on the topic. medearis is a catalyst for a number of current movements in the middle east to promote peace-making, as well as cultural, political and religious dialog leading toward reconciliation.
during our conversation, medearis explains how he learned to stop evangelism while serving as a missionary in beirut, lebanon and hopes to encourage other followers of jesus to do the same.

I like how Carl mentions how, to the Muslims, Christianity is seen as being one with American culture. Even here in the West, Christianity is seen as being one with Western culture, the way Islam is seen as being connected with Arab culture. I don’t know why that is, because Christianity did not begin in the West. Jesus was a Palestinian Jew, for goodness sake!
